This Is not The Promise
$200.00
A man sits between his woman and his wife. Which is perfectly acceptable in Miskitu culture.
As is a woman taking on a lover if the husband is gone in long travel or doesn’t measure up. But she can’t have both a husband and a side peace. A man can.
This digital art photograph merge.
Was taken by Jordy a staff member of Miskitu nation. Ercell Valcina and Mama Josie work on it the colors and effects to detail and found laughter in the devastation.
Miskitu make humor of any situation.
And this man is visibly through his gestures and energy apologizing for not being able to take care of either woman and the womens frustration of the fact.
When shown the picture to the three they laughed and intiated the story we are now conveying.

Rev. Josephenie Hendy Hebbert Clarence Tawaska De Robertson, Matriarch of the Miskitu Nation, was born in Silver City, Moskitia on December 10th, 1943. She grew up with her mother, Lady Keturah Hendy Crown Princess of Miskitu Nation and her father, originally from Sudan. Her mother was a midwife and holistic healer who traveled from town to town helping those in need. Her family – specifically her brothers -uncles were the heirs of the Miskitu Kingdom.
They were all assassinated and their lands seized for their abundant natural resources. Her Mother and the elders taught her the oral history of their nations. Her kingdom has been living under oppression and the threat of “extermination” since 1894.
